Our story began in 1960 when Giannis Papathanasiou and his wife Anna, with great passion and love for baking, opened their first bakery in Vasiliko, Evia. The beginning wasn’t easy. Back then, the work was tough and demanding, but with their dedication and continuous effort, they managed to turn their bakery into one of the most trusted in the area. Quickly, they earned a reputation for the quality of their products, and the local people flocked to their bakery for freshly baked bread and traditional pastries.
Over the years, their reputation spread beyond the area, prompting them to invest in state-of-the-art stores and bakeries, always with the same philosophy: quality, tradition, and innovation. By utilizing the latest technology in baking, they continue to produce products that respect tradition while meeting the demands of modern consumers.
The art of baking was passed on to them by a Constantinople refugee, the late Vitas Georgios, who, with his experience and expertise, helped evolve the craft of bread and pastry-making by enriching traditional recipes with new, fresh ideas. With George by their side, the Papathanasiou family introduced innovations that made a difference, such as freshly baked bread without preservatives and the first handmade puff pastries with authentic ingredients.
Over time, this family business earned the reputation of "magical dough," combining taste with tradition, always seeking new challenges. As Giannis Papathanasiou himself says, “The art of baking is not just a job, it’s a passion and a story that is built day by day, oven by oven.”
